Biography
Jessica joined Garvey Shearer Nordstrom in 2018 and represents clients in state and federal courts throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Jessica is dedicated to exhaustively investigating the facts of each case to provide the most effective defense to each of her clients, from pre-litigation demands through mediation, trial, and appeals. She handles cases involving insurance defense, insurance coverage, bad faith, commercial and contract litigation, personal injury, construction defects and accidents, trucking accidents, residential and commercial property damage disputes, and employment concerns.
In 2024, Jessica briefed the successful defense of a summary judgment appeal stemming from a Kenton County premises liability action. Both the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court affirmed the trial court’s ruling in favor of Jessica’s client. In 2025, Jessica won summary judgment on a plaintiff’s punitive damages claim against her client. The case involved allegations that the client’s employee, while driving the employer’s vehicle, caused a multi-vehicle accident while driving under the influence.
In 2024, alongside Michelle Burden, Jessica defended a trucking company and semi driver in a Kentucky federal court jury trial. Liability was admitted. The plaintiff alleged he suffered a traumatic brain injury in the accident, as a consequence, he asked the jury for nearly $5 million for the permanent impairment of his ability to earn money. The jury rejected the plaintiff’s demand and awarded him $0 on that claim.
Beyond the courtroom, Jessica competes as a pro powerlifter. She and her husband spend their time chasing their young son and cheering for UK, the Bengals, and the Reds.
