Biography

Jason Abeln is a Shareholder and one of the founding attorneys of Garvey Shearer Nordstrom. With more than 17 years of experience, Jason handles a broad range of issues and cases, including commercial construction disputes, insurance defense, insurance coverage, commercial litigation, large losses, business disputes, and loss prevention. He has first-chair trial experience, has obtained defense verdicts at trial and by motion, and has extensive appellate experience.

In 2020, Jason obtained a defense verdict in a disputed liability jury trial alleging nearly one million dollars in property damage. The case arose from a gas leak in a commercial kitchen and involved extensive cause and origin expert work and application of NFPA 921, the standard for fire investigations.

In 2011, Jason was trial counsel for one of the defendants in what the presiding Judge called the “largest civil trial in Warren County.” The case involved the rollover of a recreational vehicle that resulted in a child fatality. The jury returned a defense verdict in favor of Jason’s client.

Jason prides himself on obtaining a detailed knowledge of the facts of each case, and using that to develop tailor-made resolutions.
