Biography

As a Partner at Garvey, Shearer, Nordstrom, PSC, Chris is a seasoned litigator with a focus on efficiently resolving complex and catastrophic claims across the civil litigation landscape. Since joining the firm in 2015, Chris has utilized his 12+ years of experience to become a trusted counsel, leading clients through successful trials, appeals, and arbitrations throughout Kentucky and Ohio.

His practice spans a diverse range of disputes, with a strong emphasis on trucking and transportation claims, large-scale construction defect disputes, and the full spectrum of insurance defense related matters, including bad faith, coverage, and serious personal injury claims.

Chris understands that litigation is costly and stressful. His professional philosophy is centered on providing clients with a clear, early analysis of their legal exposure, allowing for an upfront, strategic evaluation. This proactive method saves clients significant time and resources by positioning cases for an efficient resolution when appropriate.

When matters demand aggressive defense, his track record of successfully prosecuting and defending serious, multi-jurisdictional claims—through trial, appeal, or arbitration—ensures clients receive effective advocacy through the entirety of the litigation process. 

His experience, including previously practicing with a plaintiff’s personal injury firm, provides him with invaluable perspective from all sides of claims, enabling him to anticipate opposing strategies and deliver desirable outcomes for his clients.

Chris has been recognized by Super Lawyers, which has selected him as a Rising Star in Civil Litigation: Defense every year since 2022. This honor is extended to no more than the top 2.5% of eligible lawyers in the state.

Outside of the office, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, their two young children, and two Golden Retrievers and cheering on the University of Kentucky and the Cincinnati Reds.
